Call for Action: Keep the Housing Recovery on Track

Congress will soon return to Washington with unfinished business to complete. One of those items is a housing issue that could affect almost one-quarter of all real estate transactions - the expiration of Mortgage Forgiveness Tax Relief. Without action before the end of the year, millions of families who hold distressed properties could face a hefty tax bill for trying to modify their mortgage or to seek a short sale through their lender. Even those facing foreclosure will find themselves forced to pay a “foreclosure tax” if Congress doesn’t act. This is because the amount of debt forgiven by the lender would be considered “phantom income” to the borrower even though they never receive any payment from the lender. No taxpayer should be forced to pay tax on money they’ve already lost with cash they never received.

Please Take Action and tell Congress to extend Mortgage Forgiveness Tax Relief. We need no new obstacles that might throw the housing recovery off track!

My beautiful Friend Kathy has started an amazing organization that helps our Soldiers! Her mission is to increase the morale of active members of the Military who are deployed to locations that place them in harm’s way. Our parish family will be joining with others throughout the Diocese to package meals to send to Burkina Faso in West Africa. A total of 4000 volunteers are needed and it is time to sign up now!

All children should WALK, not run & be cautioned against running out from between parked cars. Please use the sidewalk not the streets!

Obtain flashlights with fresh batteries for all children and their escorts.

Teach children how to call 9-1-1 (or their local emergency number) if they have an emergency or become lost.

Halloween at Cranes Roost - Altamonte
Halloween at Cranes Roost is a community oriented door to door trick-or-treat alternative for kids, sponsored by the City of Altamonte Springs. The 17th Annual Halloween event features local businesses sponsoring booths to hand out candy and trinkets to an estimated 15,000 kids. There are costume contests for all ages, inflatable games and live entertainment. The event kicks off at 5pm with trick-or-treating around Cranes Roost Lake & live entertainment in the Eddie Rose Amphitheater. The costume contests begin at 6pm in the Amphitheater with the youngest ages on stage first. Food & beverages will be available for purchase throughout the venue.

National Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Breast Cancer Awareness Month is an annual international health campaign organized by major breast cancer charities every October to increase awareness of the disease and to raise funds for research into its cause, prevention, diagnosis, treatment and cure. The campaign also offers information and support to those affected by breast cancer. As well as providing a platform for breast cancer charities to raise awareness of their work and of the disease. This is also a prime opportunity to remind women that early detection is key... So PINK out this month and support!
